It's been awhile everybody, hope all are doing well in the dA community.

If it's not already clear, I haven't been active on here. It's been a busy year since my last post, getting through a portfolio course at my college, heading into my senior year and developing a body of work, as well as currently being two months into an internship. The outlook is bright for turning this once interest into a profession, all the pieces appear to be moving into place.

I've posted a number of things on my personal blog since my last post here, including the following:

If you're interested in what I have to say, I'm a constant tweeter so feel free to check me out on Twitter. I'm working on rebooting my portfolio site, which is at clindhartsen.com. My blog about news, Microsoft, and other occasional topics is at clindhartsen.com/blog.  And my various other bits of work are available on my design Tumblr at clindhartsen.tumblr.com.

Hello Again

3 min read
How have you been? I've been focusing on schoolwork.

On topic, I thought I'd provide a quarterly update since I'm not as active here as I once was. In the realm of tech, I got myself a HTC Windows Phone 8X in December and have fallen back in love with Windows Phone all over again, thus where the Instagram for Windows Phone concept came from. It really is a wonderful platform that everyone should give a once over, though any in-store device doesn't really communicate its strengths that well.

On the Windows 8 side, I'm running a desktop with it full-time, though the amount of time I spend in the new experience is limited to one app: <a href=apps.microsoft.com/windows/en-…">Netflix. I on-and-off will use the new Twitter for Windows 8 client, though I keep going back to the desktop version of MetroTwit. It's something where a touch screen would really make it worth while, but I don't have one.

Moving along, I've also made a number of posts on my own blog pertaining to Windows Phone, Windows, and cable news:
Lets Fix it with Blue
The Compassionate News Network?
So, It's Surface ... What?
Lets Talk about Windows 8
Making a Better Dashbuddy
Rebooting CNN: Please End The Situation Room
Dear Jeff: A Handy List of Contradictory, Surefire Paths to Success at CNN
The Modern User Interface: The Name That Could Work for Metro
Steven Sinofsky: Making the Trains Run on Time
Surfacing from Oblivion
The Tabloid King: WSVN

In all, it's been a pretty good number of months as Seattle starts to shift into spring. See you all again in a couple months, maybe with some new work posted here before I do another round-up post like this.

Hello again deviants.

Busy as always, but I'm always happy to come onto here and see that new people have found my work, as well as checking out what the people I follow are posting.

On the writing front, I've had some thoughts about Android, Microsoft, and a small piece on CNN

So, CNN, Who Are You?
Is 7 Inches Enough
Last Stop: Everyone off the Metro
A Brand New Outlook
The #DroidExperience: Enjoying the Ice Cream
The Microsoft Experiment is Over
The #DroidExperience: One Week In
The Power of Motion & Sound: CNN Newsroom

It's going to be an exciting few months ahead as Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8 finally make it out to the public. Consumers will finally see the devices, experience the new way Windows will work, and heaven knows how they'll respond.

With that, I'll try to get some work up here soon, but until then, stay well all.

the long hiatus

3 min read
Hello from the coffee city.

Its been a couple busy months, school work and life getting in the way of spending time working on Metro-style concepts. Even so, I've posted some stories to my blog about Windows 8, Windows Phone, and even some considerations for one of my favorite Windows Phone apps.

Windows 8 - I'd Tap That

I want to say that I haven't forgotten about dA or concepting, but I simply haven't planned any time for concepting, something I am reconsidering after going through my school's "Mid Program Review" and getting suggested to focus on UI and web on top of my degree which focuses on print.

So, what should you expect? I'm not going to promise anything, but I'm going to try to scope out what I want to concept and try to complete them in a top to bottom fashion, making them something that could even be portfolio worthy. If you have any suggestions of apps you think would be great to see in this aesthetic that may or may not work as full-scale "Metro style apps" in Windows 8, feel free to leave a comment.

With that, feel free to follow me on Twitter for my thoughts on a variety of things, as well as check out my Blog for some more in-depth thoughts.

August ends, September begins, and it's still acting like summer in Seattle. How's the world doing out there?

I thought I'd do a traditional monthly update, covering what I've been uploading, as well as some of what I've been up to. To start off, the Metrofy series been off to a good start, adding a Calendar piece to the Windows Live Mail concept, a Twitter for Windows client, a new start page for Windows Live Photos, and an idea about 'immersive' Television...

While all are still concept, you might keep an eye out for some future news. As for other things, college continues to take up time and finals are these upcoming two weeks, so my concepts might be a little bit on the simple side for a little while depending on how much time I can devote them.

Also, I also got interviewed here, so you might check that out if you're interested.

So, in short, not too much to say, but keep an eye out, Metrofy continues, and I'll see you all in a couple weeks. Peace out.
