A work in progress, but I'm intereted in reworking the Media Center into a more modernized format, transitioning towards something a little more XBOX like, pushing the idea of making the 10 foot experience similar between the two since the format can generally work.
Any thoughts on improvements? Modifications? Changes? Thanks for any input on this.
Great Concept Here! There is a program that let's you theme Windows Media Center. It's called "Media Center Sudio". It's available from the Hack7MC website. I'm not sure if you can change the position of the tiles/icons or size. You may need to know MCML (Media Center Markup Language) to know how to edit the UI. But it would definately be worth checking out if you can bring idea's like the one you've got here across to WMC. I'll have to keep an eye out on your progress. Two thumbs up!!!
This looks really nice. IMHO you should consider mixing in some of the design language from the full landscape screen grabs of Windows Phone 7 for further inspiration.
Yup, that's part of the considerations into this. The whole concept of pivot/hubs is something I'm going to explore more, this primary version very primitive and essentially an XBOX clone.
That's partially what finally got me to dive into working on this. I like some aspects of what you created, but disliked parts of it as well. How did you do the background by the way, that's always a bit of a hard spot for me to perfect.
Just use the right colors (black, pink, orange) and play with the brush tool! Can't be that hard! If I had the time too perfect my creation I could give it a more finishing look.
Yes and no. Some of the concepts I'd like there to be, like that Live TV panel showing the current live TV, or Recorded showing the latest recorded programs, probably isn't possible without some deep reworking. It'd be something I'd hope for in Windows 8, sadly, and likely no sooner.
If you have time you should look into it.
Maybe you'll get some ideas from my work.

I wonder if there's some one with the know-how to make this a reality by modding Windows Media Centre or creating a skin.
